Amethyst clusters are found inside geodes which appear underground in various stone layers. The biomes above the geode do not matter so clusters can be found beneath many different surface biomes.
How to get Amethyst Cluster
Find a geode in caves and carefully mine through the outer rock layers until you reach the amethyst growths. Use a pickaxe to mine the cluster and collect amethyst shards. Be careful with lava and explosives which can destroy the crystals.
