Description

The barrier is an invisible indestructible block used by builders and map creators to block movement and to control the playable area. It does not render in normal view which makes it ideal for invisible walls safety nets and for marking limits in adventure maps and servers. Barriers cannot be obtained in survival mode and are only available in creative or by commands which makes them a developer tool rather than a regular building block. Because the block prevents passage it is often used to stop players from leaving a world border area to protect fragile builds or to create single player maps where the player must stay within a designed space. In practical terms barriers are useful for guiding players along intended routes without intrusive visible walls and for preventing mobs from accessing certain areas. They are also handy for testing and for creating invisible platforms and safe spawn areas in custom maps. The barrier is a powerful tool in a mapper or server operator toolkit and should be used carefully because players cannot break through it in normal play.

How to use Barrier

Place barriers to block movement or to create invisible platforms and walls. Because they do not render in normal view you can use them to guide players invisibly or to protect special builds. Use the barrier carefully and document its location because players will not see it and could become confused if it is placed without signs or visible markers.
