Description

Cobweb is a fibrous trap like block that appears in dark corners of caves in abandoned mineshafts and in some structures where spiders and their webs are part of the environment. The block slows movement when entities pass through it which makes it useful in traps and in natural looking ruined builds where the presence of webs suggests long term neglect. Cobwebs can also be harvested and used decoratively to add atmosphere to villain lairs haunted houses and to aged storerooms or to create realistic mop up tasks in role play builds. In game mechanics cobwebs influence player movement and can catch falling entities which can be useful when building traps or when creating gentle damping in fall shafts. Resource wise cobweb yields string when broken with a sword or shears which makes it a source of string for crafting ropes bows and other string based items. Because they are relatively rare in open ground cobwebs are valuable for early string supply especially for players who do not want to rely on spiders as the sole source. The block reads clearly as decay and neglect so builders use it to sell atmosphere and to give a location an aged story.

What is Cobweb?

Cobweb is a fibrous block that looks like a tangle of string and that slows movement of players and mobs that pass through it. It is used as an environment detail and as a functional trap element because of the movement penalty it applies.

Where to find Cobweb

Cobwebs are commonly found in abandoned mineshafts in the underground and in the dark corners of strongholds dungeons and woodland mansion basements. They often appear near cobweb producing mobs and in places that are meant to feel old or untended. Check mineshaft tunnels and storage rooms to find clusters of cobwebs.

How to get Cobweb

Harvest Cobwebs using shears to collect the block intact or break them with a sword to get string drops. Break with normal tools and you may still get string but shears are the reliable method to keep the block whole for decorative placement in your base or build.
