The only way to get Nether wart is to find it. It cannot be crafted. Nether wart generates naturally in Nether fortresses, which are the large, dark castles you can find in the Nether. You will find it growing in small garden patches on top of soul sand, usually near staircases. You can break the fully grown Nether wart to collect two to four pieces. You can also find Nether wart in the chests inside bastion remnants. Once you have at least one piece of Nether wart, you can farm it yourself. It is very important that you collect the soul sand it is growing on as well, because Nether wart can only be planted on soul sand.
How to use Nether Wart in Minecraft
The main use for Nether wart is in brewing potions. To start brewing, you need to combine one Nether wart with a water bottle in a brewing stand. This will create an awkward potion. This potion has no effect on its own, but it is the base that you can then add other ingredients to, like a glistering melon slice to make a potion of healing, or a magma cream to make a potion of fire resistance. To farm Nether wart, you need to place a block of soul sand and then plant the Nether wart on top of it. It will slowly grow through three stages. You can only get more Nether wart by harvesting it at its final, fully grown stage. You can also craft nine Nether wart into a Nether wart block for decoration.
