What is Bubble Coral in Minecraft?

Bubble coral is a living, non solid block that looks like a small, purple, bumpy structure, similar to a cluster of grapes. It is one of the five types of coral that generate in warm ocean biomes. Its main purpose is for decoration, especially for building vibrant and lively underwater scenes. When it is underwater, bubble coral has a beautiful, bright purple color. However, if you take it out of the water, it will quickly lose its color and turn into a gray, dead version of itself. This makes it a unique and somewhat challenging block to work with for builders. It is a key part of what makes coral reefs so colorful and beautiful.

How to get Bubble Coral in Minecraft

The only way to get a living bubble coral is to find it and mine it with a special tool. Bubble coral grows naturally on the floor of warm ocean biomes, as part of the colorful coral reefs. You can find these biomes by looking for clear, light blue water and lots of sea life. To collect the bubble coral without it dying, you must mine it with a pickaxe that has the Silk Touch enchantment. If you break it with any other tool, or even a pickaxe without Silk Touch, it will break and you will get nothing. So, the first step is to get a Silk Touch pickaxe. Then, you will need to prepare for an underwater adventure with potions of water breathing or a good helmet with the Respiration enchantment. Find a coral reef, locate the bubble coral, and carefully mine it.

How to use Bubble Coral in Minecraft

The main use for bubble coral is for decoration. To keep it alive and colorful, you must place it in a block of water. This makes it perfect for building custom aquariums, underwater bases, or any water feature where you want a splash of bright purple. You can place it on any solid block, as long as that block is also submerged in water. If you place bubble coral outside of water, it will stay alive for a few seconds before turning into a dead bubble coral block, which is a gray, stony color. The dead version is also a nice decorative block, useful for creating fossilized reefs or spooky, desolate landscapes. Like other corals, bubble coral can be placed in a flower pot for a cute, tiny decoration, but it will be the dead version.
