The main purpose of gravel is to be a source of flint, which is an essential item for crafting arrows and flint and steel. It is also a key ingredient in crafting concrete powder. How to get Gravel in Minecraft

Getting gravel is very easy. It generates naturally in large veins underground in caves, on the surface in windswept gravelly hills biomes, on the floor of cold oceans, and as part of the roads in some villages. You can find it almost anywhere you go. To collect it, you can break it with any tool, but a shovel is the fastest. When you break a gravel block, it will either drop itself as an item or, about 10% of the time, it will drop a piece of flint instead. This is the primary way to get flint in the game. You can also find gravel in the chests in ruined portals and trail ruins.

How to use Gravel in Minecraft

The main use for gravel is to get flint. The best way to get a lot of flint is to place and break a column of gravel over and over again until you have enough. Using a shovel with the Fortune enchantment will increase the chance of getting flint from 10% up to 100% at Fortune III. Gravel is also a key crafting ingredient. You need four blocks of gravel and four blocks of sand to craft concrete powder. As a building block, gravel is not very popular, but it can be used to create paths or roads with a natural, pebbly look. Because it is a gravity block, it can be used in some simple traps. For example, you can place gravel on top of a torch, and if the torch is broken, the gravel will fall.
