To use a clock, you can simply hold it in your hand. The dial will spin, showing you where the sun or moon is in the sky. When the sun is at the top, it is noon. When the moon is at the top, it is midnight. You can also place a clock in an item frame and hang it on a wall, which turns it into a working wall clock for your base. It is important to know that a clock only works in the Overworld. If you take it to the Nether or the End, where there is no day and night cycle, the dial will just spin around randomly and will not tell you anything.
