It is a crucial item for any player who wants to complete the game by traveling to the End dimension and defeating the Ender Dragon. When you use an Eye of Ender, it flies up into the air and in the direction of the nearest stronghold, leaving a trail of purple particles. By following the direction of the eye, you can pinpoint the location of this rare underground structure. Once you find the End portal room inside the stronghold, you will need to place an Eye of Ender in each of the empty portal frame blocks to activate the portal.
How to get Eye of Ender in Minecraft
You cannot find an Eye of Ender naturally in the world; you must craft it. The crafting recipe requires two special ingredients: an Ender Pearl and Blaze Powder. Ender Pearls are dropped by Endermen, which are tall, dark mobs that can teleport. You can hunt them in the overworld at night, or more easily in the Warped Forest biome in the Nether or in the End. Blaze Powder is crafted from Blaze Rods. To get Blaze Rods, you must travel to the Nether and find a Nether Fortress. Inside, you will find Blazes, which are fiery, flying mobs. When you defeat a Blaze, it will drop a Blaze Rod. You can then place the Blaze Rod in a crafting grid to get two Blaze Powder. Once you have both an Ender Pearl and Blaze Powder, you can combine them anywhere in a crafting grid to create one Eye of Ender.
How to use Eye of Ender in Minecraft
To find a stronghold, go to the surface, hold the Eye of Ender, and right click. The eye will fly about 12 blocks in the direction of the stronghold and then fall back to the ground for you to pick it up. There is a 20% chance the eye will shatter and be destroyed when you use it, so it is a good idea to bring several. By throwing the eye from a few different locations and seeing where the paths cross, you can figure out exactly where the stronghold is. Once you dig down and find the stronghold, locate the portal room. The portal frame will have 12 slots, some of which may already have an Eye of Ender in them. You need to place an Eye of Ender in each empty slot. Once all 12 slots are filled, the portal will activate, creating a starry black gateway to the End.
