A beacon is a very powerful and rare block that projects a giant beam of light into the sky. How to get Beacon in Minecraft
Getting a beacon is a two part challenge: crafting it and then building a pyramid to power it. To craft the beacon itself, you need three blocks of obsidian, five blocks of glass, and one nether star. Obsidian is made when water flows over lava, and glass is made by smelting sand. The hardest part is getting the nether star. A nether star is only dropped by the Wither, one of the most powerful boss mobs in the game. To summon the Wither, you need to collect three Wither skeleton skulls from Wither skeletons in a Nether fortress, and four blocks of soul sand. Once you defeat the Wither and get the star, you can craft the beacon. To power it, you need to build a pyramid underneath it. A small pyramid needs nine blocks of a precious mineral, while the largest pyramid needs 164 blocks.
How to use Beacon in Minecraft
To use a beacon, you must first build a pyramid for it to sit on. The pyramid can be made of iron, gold, diamond, emerald, or netherite blocks. The bigger the pyramid, the more powerful the beacon's effects will be. A small one layer pyramid gives you access to speed or haste. A full four layer pyramid unlocks all the primary powers plus the secondary power of regeneration. Once the beacon is placed on the completed pyramid, it will light up. You can then right click the beacon to open its menu. Here, you can choose the status effect you want. You have to pay with one iron ingot, gold ingot, diamond, or emerald to activate it. The effect will then be active for all players in its range. You can also place a stained glass block on top of the beacon beam to change its color.
