Description

A beehive is a player crafted version of the bee nest that acts as a home for bees and a central part of honey farming. Beehives look like wooden boxes with slats and a hole where bees enter and exit. They behave much like natural bee nests but give players control because they can be placed where needed to support farming and decorative projects. Setting up beehives near gardens and crop fields encourages bees to pollinate plants which improves crop yields and speeds up berry and flower reproduction. Beehives collect honey over time as bees bring pollen back from nearby flowers and once they are full players can harvest honey bottles or shears for honeycomb. To harvest safely place a campfire under the beehive to calm the bees so they do not become aggressive. Beehives are a key component of small scale automated farms because they can be placed in rows and linked with redstone and hoppers to automate collection. They are also a pleasant decorative item that adds a sense of life to market stalls and homesteads. Crafting beehives uses planks and honeycomb which ties together gathering and crafting in a friendly loop where bees help players and players look after bees. For players who enjoy a living farm and decorative detail beehives provide both function and charm while encouraging sustainable play.

What is Beehive?

The beehive is a crafted block that houses bees and stores honey produced by the colony. Bees work in the world by collecting pollen from flowers and returning to the beehive with resources. A beehive will fill with honey over time and can be harvested for honey bottles or honeycomb. Because beehives are player made they are useful for placing bee colonies close to farms and gardens.

Where to find Beehive

Beehives are not natural and must be crafted by players. You place them near flowers and crops to encourage bees to use them as a home. Beehives appear in player builds and farms and are common in settlements where players run honey or bee farms. The materials to make a beehive are available from natural sources which makes it easy to integrate into early and mid game play.
