Description

A lever is a simple mechanical switch that you can place on blocks to provide an on or off signal for redstone circuits. It looks like a small handle attached to a base and can be flipped to change its state. Levers are robust and stay in their set position until flipped again which makes them great for manual controls like doors, lighting systems and trap activation. They are one of the first redstone items players learn to use because they are easy to craft and understand and they work with many devices that need a sustained signal. Designers use levers for control panels, secret doors and as a basic user interface for redstone powered machines. Because they give a persistent signal they are useful in switches where you do not want a momentary pulse but a stable on or off state.

What is Lever?

A lever is a toggling block that provides a persistent redstone signal when switched on. It is a basic component of redstone logic and allows players to control devices with a simple physical switch.

Where to find Lever

Levers do not normally appear as part of natural structures and are placed by players in game builds. You will find them in player created control panels, workshop areas and in adventure maps where the designer wants a manual control for a mechanism.

How to get Lever

Craft a lever using sticks and cobblestone or other standard recipe components depending on the game version or use the give command to add one instantly. In creative mode you can select a lever from the inventory for instant placement while building.
