How to get Lodestone in Minecraft
The only way to get a lodestone is by crafting it. It does not generate naturally in the world, although a single one can be found in the chests of bastion remnants. The crafting recipe is very expensive, requiring a rare item from the Nether. You will need eight chiseled stone bricks and one netherite ingot. To get chiseled stone bricks, you can craft them from stone brick slabs. To get a netherite ingot, you must find ancient debris in the Nether, smelt it into netherite scrap, and then combine four netherite scraps with four gold ingots. Once you have your materials, open a crafting table. Place the single netherite ingot in the center slot. Then, surround it completely with the eight chiseled stone bricks. This will create one lodestone.
How to use Lodestone in Minecraft
The main use for a lodestone is to create a lodestone compass. To do this, first place the lodestone block at the location you want to mark, for example, in the center of your base. Then, hold a regular compass in your hand and right click on the lodestone. The compass will shimmer and transform into a lodestone compass. This compass will now have a magical glint, and its needle will always point towards the lodestone you linked it to. This works even if you are in the Nether or the End, making it a much more reliable navigation tool than a regular compass. If the lodestone is broken, or if you are in a different dimension, the compass needle will just spin randomly.
