Description

A lodestone is a special crafted block that changes the behavior of compasses when they are used nearby. When a compass is tuned to a lodestone it will point to that block instead of the world spawn point which makes lodestones extremely useful for navigation and for marking important locations. Players place lodestones in bases, on ships, and in remote posts to help travellers find their way back. The block itself looks like a carved metallic stone and it is durable and suitable for outdoor use. It is not magnetically active in terms of physics in the game but its interaction with the compass gives it a unique and practical role in exploration and in multiplayer worlds where coordinates may be confusing. A lodestone can be used as part of a map or waypoint system and it is particularly helpful for marking moving structures and ships because you can retune compasses to a new lodestone location as needed.

What is Lodestone?

A lodestone is a crafted block that allows a compass to be set to point to it. It is a navigational aid that helps you find important places by making compasses point to the tuned lodestone rather than to the world spawn.

Where to find Lodestone

Lodestones are not usually found naturally. You craft them using a netherite like material and place them where you want to create a navigational anchor. Some adventure maps and player builds will include lodestones as waypoints but they do not commonly occur in natural structures.

How to get Lodestone

Craft a lodestone at a crafting table using the required strong materials and stones. Once placed you can use a compass on the lodestone to tune it. The tuned compass will remember that lodestone and point to it even across dimensions when used carefully.
