What Is Ancient Debris in Minecraft?

Ancient Debris is an extremely rare ore hiding deep in the Nether. It's the starting point for making Netherite - the toughest material in Minecraft!

It survives explosions because it has an incredibly high blast resistance of 1,200.
Even in item form, it floats on lava and can't be burned, so it's very safe to handle.
You need at least a diamond pickaxe to mine it - anything weaker won't drop anything.

You must use a Diamond Pickaxe or a Netherite Pickaxe to mine it.
The best Y-level to look is around Y=16 in the Nether - that's where it's most common.
It hides inside Netherrack and never generates exposed to air, so you usually have to dig or blast for it.

Put it in a Furnace or Blast Furnace to smelt it into Netherite Scrap.
Combine 4 Netherite Scraps with 4 Gold Ingots to make a Netherite Ingot.
Use a Netherite Ingot to upgrade diamond armour, tools and weapons to Netherite at a Smithing Table.
