What Is Birch Sapling in Minecraft?

A Birch Sapling is the small seedling stage of a Birch tree. Plant it on the ground and watch it grow into a tall white-and-black tree!

How Does Birch Sapling Work?

It needs a light level of at least 9 above it to grow.
It needs at least 6 clear blocks of space above it.
It grows on its own over time, or use Bone Meal to make it grow immediately.
Plant it within 2 blocks of a flower and there is a 5% chance the grown tree will have a Bee Nest with 2–3 bees inside!
Break it instantly with any tool - it always drops itself.

Break Birch Leaves - there is a 5% chance of a sapling dropping (Fortune increases this up to 10%).
Buy one from a Wandering Trader for 5 Emeralds.
Found in Bonus Chests in Bedrock Edition.

How to Grow Birch Sapling

Place it on any dirt, grass, podzol, moss or similar block.
Make sure there are at least 6 clear blocks above it.
Use Bone Meal on it to grow it instantly, even in low light.
