What Is Command Block in Minecraft?

Command Block is a special technical block that runs a Minecraft command when activated by a redstone signal. It cannot be obtained in Survival mode and is only available to operators in Creative mode. There are three types: Impulse (orange), Chain (teal) and Repeating (purple).

How Does Command Block Work?

  • Runs a command (like /give, /tp, /effect) when powered by redstone.
  • Impulse: runs once when powered.
  • Chain: runs after the previous command block in a chain completes.
  • Repeating: runs the command every game tick while powered.
  • Cannot be broken in Survival mode.
