What Is Dragon Egg in Minecraft?

Dragon Egg is one of the rarest blocks in the game. It appears on top of the Exit Portal after you defeat the Ender Dragon for the first time. It teleports away when you try to click it, so you need a trick to collect it.

How Does Dragon Egg Work?

  • Clicking it causes it to teleport to a nearby location.
  • To collect it, place a torch below it and push it with a piston - it will fall onto the torch and drop as an item.
  • Alternatively, place blocks around it to limit where it can teleport, then mine the block underneath.
  • Only one Dragon Egg exists per world. It is a pure trophy - it cannot hatch.
