What Is Nether Wart in Minecraft?

Nether Wart is a red fungal plant that grows on Soul Sand. It is the base ingredient for almost all potions in Minecraft. It grows in three stages and must be fully grown before it drops extra Nether Wart items. Unlike crops, it does not need water or light to grow - only Soul Sand.
