What Is Soul Soil in Minecraft?

Soul Soil is a dark block found in the Soul Sand Valley biome in the Nether. Unlike Soul Sand, it does not slow down players or mobs walking on it. Soul Fire burns on top of Soul Soil and it is one of the blocks used to summon the Wither boss alongside Soul Sand.

How Does Soul Soil Work?

  • Does not slow players or mobs unlike Soul Sand.
  • Soul Fire can be lit on top of it with Flint and Steel.
  • Used with Soul Sand and Wither Skeleton Skulls to summon the Wither.
  • Acts as a full solid block with no speed penalty.
