What Is Tripwire in Minecraft?

Tripwire is a thin string that is stretched between two Tripwire Hooks up to 40 blocks apart. When a player, mob or item passes through it the wire is triggered and both hooks emit a Redstone signal. It is nearly invisible and very useful for hidden traps and detection systems. It is crafted from String.

How Does Tripwire Work?

  • Place a Tripwire Hook on both ends and connect them with String by right-clicking.
  • Triggers a Redstone signal when any entity or item walks through it.
  • The signal is sent to both Tripwire Hooks at each end.
  • Can be destroyed without triggering by using Shears.
