What is Golden Chestplate in Minecraft?
A golden chestplate is a piece of body armor made from gold. While it looks very luxurious and shiny, it is not very good for protection. It is weaker than iron armor and has very low durability, meaning it breaks quickly. However, the golden chestplate has one very important special use. If you wear at least one piece of gold armor while in the Nether, the normally hostile piglin mobs will not attack you on sight. This makes the golden chestplate, or any gold armor piece, an essential item for safely navigating the Nether and interacting with piglins.
How to get Golden Chestplate in Minecraft
You can craft a golden chestplate using eight gold ingots. This is the most expensive piece of the gold armor set. On a crafting table, place the eight gold ingots in the grid, filling every slot except for the top middle one. You can also find a golden chestplate as loot in the world. They have a chance to appear in chests inside ruined portals and bastion remnants. Sometimes, zombies and skeletons will spawn wearing a golden chestplate, and they may drop it when defeated, especially if you use a sword with the Looting enchantment.
How to use Golden Chestplate in Minecraft
The most important way to use a golden chestplate is to wear it when you are exploring the Nether. This will make piglins neutral towards you, allowing you to walk near them and trade with them without being attacked. As a piece of armor, it provides a decent amount of protection, but it will not last long in a fight. The golden chestplate also has the highest enchantability of any armor type, so you can get good enchantments like Protection or Thorns on it for a low experience cost. However, because of its low durability, these enchantments will not be very useful unless you can constantly repair it with the Mending enchantment.
