What Is Allay in Minecraft?

Allays are small, friendly blue mobs that fetch items for you. Give one an item and it will find and collect every matching item nearby, bringing them straight to you.

What Can Allays Do in Minecraft?

• Give an Allay an item by handing it to it, and it flies off searching up to 32 blocks around you for dropped items that match. It carries up to a full stack of 64 at a time.
• It brings everything it finds back and drops it near you, then rests for a few seconds before searching again.
• If a Note Block plays nearby while it's delivering, the Allay locks onto that block instead and starts bringing items there, for about 30 seconds.
• When a nearby Jukebox is playing music, an Allay dances. Giving it an Amethyst Shard while it dances splits it into two Allays, though both then need 5 minutes before they can duplicate again.
• You can take its held item back at any time by using an empty hand on it.
• If an Allay dies while holding a Totem of Undying, the totem is used up and the Allay comes back to life at full health.
• Allays can't be bred and have no baby form.

Why Keep Allays?

• They're a huge help for collecting loot from Mob farms or large builds without you having to run around picking everything up.
• Duplicating one near a Jukebox lets you build a small team of Allays, each one handling a different item.
• Pair one with a Note Block sorting system to have items delivered straight to a chest instead of to you.
