What Is Breeze in Minecraft?
The Breeze is a new hostile mob found only inside Trial Chambers. It looks like a swirling wind creature and attacks by launching Wind Charges that send you flying. Getting thrown into a wall or off a ledge can deal serious fall damage, which is what makes the Breeze so dangerous even though each Wind Charge hit only deals half a heart of direct damage.
What Can Breezes Do in Minecraft?
- The Breeze fires Wind Charges that deal very little direct damage but launch you backward with a strong knockback blast. If you are near a ledge or wall, the fall or collision damage can be deadly.
- It leaps up to 15 blocks horizontally and 5 blocks vertically to close in on you, making it hard to keep at range.
- Wind Charges deflect almost every projectile you shoot at it: arrows, tridents, snowballs. Only other Wind Charges can get through.
- The blasts from Wind Charges can toggle levers, buttons, trapdoors, and fence gates nearby. This can accidentally open or close doors around you in the chamber.
- Breeze are immune to fall damage themselves and float upward faster than normal in water.
- The Breeze does not attack other Trial Chamber mobs like zombies or skeletons, only players and Iron Golems.
How to Fight Breezes
- Use a Shield. Wind Charges are projectiles, and a raised Shield will block them and prevent knockback.
- Stay away from ledges and pits. The knockback is the main danger, not the direct hit, so positioning matters a lot.
- Try hitting the Wind Charges back with your sword or shooting them with a crossbow, which deflects them and can damage the Breeze with its own projectile.
- Melee attacking works well once you close the gap since the Breeze has no close-range melee attack of its own.
- The Breeze drops Breeze Rods used to craft Wind Charges and the Mace weapon, so it is worth defeating.
How to Stay Safe from Breezes
- Breeze only spawn inside Trial Chambers, so you will never find them in the open world. Stay out of Trial Chambers until you have decent gear and armor.
- Before entering a Trial Chamber combat room, scout the room from the doorway. If you see a Breeze, use a doorway as cover to block its Wind Charges.
- Wear Feather Falling boots to reduce fall damage from being knocked into pits or off ledges inside the chamber.
- Avoid fighting near the edges of platforms or over water pools inside Trial Chambers where knockback is most dangerous.
