What Is Drowned in Minecraft?

The Drowned is the underwater cousin of the Zombie. It can swim fast, breathe underwater forever, and some of them carry a Trident they can throw at you from a distance.

What Can Drowned Do in Minecraft?

• Swims quickly and chases players through water
• Can walk onto land to keep chasing you, especially at night
• Some Drowned spawn already holding a Trident and can throw it
• Will seek out and destroy Turtle Eggs if it finds them
• Has a small chance to drop its Trident or a rare Nautilus Shell

How to Fight Drowned

• Lure it onto land where it moves and attacks more awkwardly
• Watch out for thrown Tridents and dodge sideways
• A Crossbow or Bow works well if you can keep your distance in the water

How to Stay Safe from Drowned

• Fence off Turtle Eggs near beaches so Drowned cannot reach them
• Avoid swimming in Ocean biomes at night without armor
• Keep torches along riverbanks near your base to stop them spawning close by
