What Is Elder Guardian in Minecraft?

The Elder Guardian is a huge, spiky guardian that protects Ocean Monuments. Just being near one gives you Mining Fatigue, making it hard to mine or fight, so most players have to plan ahead before taking one on.

What Can Elder Guardians Do in Minecraft?

• Applies Mining Fatigue to any player within range, even through walls
• Charges up a laser beam for a few seconds before firing a powerful hit
• Only three Elder Guardians exist in each Ocean Monument
• Once defeated, an Elder Guardian does not come back

How to Fight Elder Guardians

• Drink a Milk bucket to remove Mining Fatigue before fighting
• Swim close to interrupt its laser charge-up before it fires
• Bring a Potion of Water Breathing and Night Vision to see and breathe underwater

How to Stay Safe from Elder Guardians

• Do not rush into a Monument unprepared, the Mining Fatigue makes mining your way out very slow
• Deal with the Elder Guardians first before exploring the rest of the Monument
• Keep an escape route planned in case you run low on air or health
