What Is Frog in Minecraft?

The Frog is a small, hopping animal that lives in swamps. It is one of the only mobs that can safely eat Magma Cubes and Slimes, and it comes in three colors depending on the biome it grows up in.

What Can Frogs Do in Minecraft?

• Uses its tongue to grab and eat small Slimes and small Magma Cubes, turning them into useful drops
• Swims quickly and almost always stays near the surface of the water
• Can jump up to 8 blocks high and takes less damage from falling than most mobs
• Starts life as a Tadpole, a completely different-looking baby form that swims in water

How to Breed Frogs

• Feed two Frogs Slimeballs to put them in love mode
• One Frog lays Frogspawn in nearby water, which hatches into 2 to 5 Tadpoles after a few minutes
• Tadpoles grow into adult Frogs after about 20 minutes
• The biome a Tadpole grows up in decides its color, not its parents

Why Keep Frogs?

• Frogs are a safe, fun way to clear out small Slimes and Magma Cubes without fighting them yourself
• When a Frog eats a Magma Cube, it drops a glowing Froglight block you can use for decoration
