Goat

What Is Goat in Minecraft?

The Goat is a neutral animal found high up on mountain peaks and meadows, always ready to headbutt anything that gets in its way.

What Can Goats Do in Minecraft?

• Goats ram players, mobs, and even boats every so often, dealing damage and shoving the target back.
• They can leap incredibly high, easily clearing cliffs and ledges that would stop most other animals.
• Goats take no damage from falls at all, so they never hurt themselves jumping off mountains.
• The rare Screaming Goat bleats loudly, rams far more often, and makes a louder, scarier horn sound.
• Ramming a stripped log tuned to certain note block pitches can knock a Goat Horn loose, which you can pick up and blow.

How to Breed Goats

• Feed two Goats Wheat to start breeding and get a baby Goat.
• Baby Goats grow up over time and cannot ram until they become adults.
• Breeding Goats is the only reliable way to get a Screaming Goat, since each baby has a small chance of being one.

How to Fight Goats

• Stand to the side of a Goat rather than right in front of it, since its ram comes from a straight charge.
• Give it a moment after a ram attempt. Goats pause briefly before charging again.
• Building a small wall or standing on a ledge it cannot reach stops the ramming completely.

How to Stay Safe from Goats

• Goats ram players who stand still, knocking them back up to 9 blocks.
• That knockback is dangerous near cliffs, so keep away from edges when a Goat is nearby.
• Rare Screaming Goats, about 2 in 100, ram much more often, every 5 to 15 seconds.

Why Keep Goats?

• Use a Bucket on an adult Goat to get a Milk Bucket.
• When a Goat with horns rams stone, logs, packed ice, or coal, copper, iron or emerald ore, it drops a Goat Horn.
• Horns do not grow back, and baby Goats never drop them.
