What Is Llama in Minecraft?
The Llama is a passive pack animal found roaming savannas and mountains, happy to carry your supplies once you earn its trust.
What Can Llamas Do in Minecraft?
- Llamas spit at players, wolves, and llamas they do not like, dealing a small amount of damage.
- Once tamed, a Llama can wear a Carpet for decoration and carry a Chest full of items on its back.
- Leading one tamed Llama while others are nearby forms a caravan, with the whole line following the leashed leader.
How to Tame a Llama
- Keep trying to ride a Llama repeatedly until hearts appear, which tames it without needing any food.
- A tamed Llama will not wander off and can be equipped with a Chest to hold items.
How to Breed Llamas
- Feed two tamed Llamas Hay Bales to start breeding and get a baby Llama.
- Baby Llamas inherit one of their parents' colors at random.
How to Fight Llamas
- Llamas only spit once provoked, so leave them alone and they will never fight you.
- Their spit does only 1 damage, but it can knock you off balance near a ledge, so fight on flat ground.
- Trying to keep a Llama pen safe from wolves helps, since wolves will be spat at as well.
Why Keep Llamas?
- A tamed Llama can carry a chest with 3 to 15 slots, depending on its strength.
- Put a Lead on one Llama and up to 9 more will follow it in a caravan.
- Llamas spit at hostile mobs, and Wolves are scared of the strongest Llamas.
- You can decorate a tamed Llama with a Carpet.
