What Is Magma Cube in Minecraft?
The Magma Cube is the Nether's version of the Slime. It's fireproof, hops higher, and hits harder, and it splits into smaller Magma Cubes when you kill it.
What Can Magma Cubes Do in Minecraft?
- A large Magma Cube splits into 2 to 4 medium ones when it dies, and a medium one splits into 2 to 4 small ones the same way.
- It's completely immune to fire and fall damage, and it floats on lava instead of sinking, which makes Basalt Deltas a dangerous place to fight one.
- Magma Cubes jump toward players and Iron Golems within 16 blocks, moving faster and jumping more often once they spot a target.
- Even the smallest Magma Cube can still damage you just by touching it, unlike tiny Slimes.
- It takes extra damage from powder snow, 5 health every two seconds instead of the usual 1.
How to Fight Magma Cubes
- Fight Magma Cubes away from lava lakes so the smaller ones that split off don't float out of reach.
- Fire Aspect won't do anything extra here since Magma Cubes can't be set on fire.
- Since it has no pathfinding, a Magma Cube can't climb over walls or get around obstacles, so a simple barrier keeps it away.
How to Stay Safe from Magma Cubes
- Magma Cubes spawn at any light level in the Nether, so lighting up an area won't stop them like it does Zombies.
- Build Nether bases with solid walls, since Magma Cubes can't path around obstacles but can still reach you if there's a gap.
- Watch your footing near Basalt Deltas. Magma Cubes often appear in groups there and can knock you toward lava.
