What Is Birch Log in Minecraft?

A Birch Log is the white, papery trunk of a Birch tree. It has a distinctive black-and-white striped texture that makes it one of the most recognisable wood types in the game.

How Does Birch Log Work?

  • It orients like a pillar - place it on its side to show the stripes running horizontally.
  • Right-click it with any Axe to strip off the bark, turning it into a Stripped Birch Log with a lighter texture.
  • Smelt it in a Furnace to make Charcoal - a great fuel source when coal is hard to find.
  • One log smelts 1.5 items as a fuel, or produces Charcoal which then smelts 8 items.

How to Get Birch Log

How to Break Birch Log

  • An axe is the fastest tool, but any tool works.
  • It always drops itself when broken.

Where Does Birch Log Generate?

  • Makes up the trunks of Birch trees in birch forest and flower forest biomes, and mixed forests.

How to Use Birch Log

What Can You Craft with Birch Log?

  • Birch Planks - craft 1 log to get 4 planks, the main building material for birch wood items.
  • Charcoal - smelt a log in a Furnace for a long-lasting fuel alternative to Coal.

Building with Birch Log

  • Great for pale, Scandinavian or cottage-style builds.
  • Strip it with an Axe for a cleaner, lighter-coloured version.
  • Mix stripped and un-stripped logs for a natural two-tone pattern.

Can You Burn Birch Log in a Furnace?

  • Yes! One log smelts 1.5 items as fuel, or smelt it to get Charcoal which smelts 8 items.
