What Is Deepslate in Minecraft?

Deepslate is a dark grey stone that generates deep underground, mostly below Y=0. It is harder and slower to mine than regular Stone. When mined without Silk Touch, it drops Cobbled Deepslate instead.

How Does Deepslate Work?

  • A pickaxe is required - breaking without one drops nothing.
  • Takes longer to mine than Stone.
  • Drops Cobbled Deepslate when mined without Silk Touch.
  • Use Silk Touch to obtain Deepslate itself.

How to Get Deepslate

How to Mine Deepslate

  • Use any pickaxe. Breaking without a pickaxe drops nothing.
  • Found naturally below Y=0 in the deep underground.
  • Use Silk Touch to obtain Deepslate (otherwise it drops Cobbled Deepslate).
