What Is Magma Block in Minecraft?

Magma Block is a hot volcanic block with a glowing orange surface. It can be found in the Nether and on ocean floors in the Overworld. Standing on a Magma Block without protection deals fire damage. It also emits a small amount of light.

How Does Magma Block Work?

  • Deals 1 fire damage per second to players and mobs standing on it.
  • Wearing Frost Walker boots or sneaking prevents the damage.
  • Emits a light level of 3.
  • Water placed above a Magma Block creates a downward bubble column that pulls things underwater.
  • A pickaxe is required - breaking without one drops nothing.
