What Is Note Block in Minecraft?

Note Block is a wooden block that plays a musical note when powered by Redstone or right-clicked. Right-clicking changes the pitch through 25 notes spanning two octaves. The instrument it plays depends on the block directly underneath it - dirt makes bass drum, stone makes bass guitar, wood makes bass, and so on.

How Does Note Block Work?

  • Right-click to change the pitch (25 notes available).
  • The block underneath it determines the instrument sound.
  • Plays when powered by a Redstone signal or right-clicked.
  • Place a mob head on top to make it play the corresponding mob sound.
