What Is Snow in Minecraft?

Snow is a thin layer that settles on blocks in cold and snowy biomes during snow weather. It can be up to 8 layers thick. Each layer broken with a Shovel drops one Snowball. Snow accumulates naturally in cold biomes and melts if placed near a light source.
