What Is Gray Terracotta in Minecraft?

Gray Terracotta is a hardened clay block with a muted grey colour. It is made by dyeing regular Terracotta with Gray Dye. It has a warm, slightly gritty texture and is harder to mine than stone. Smelting it creates Gray Glazed Terracotta with a shiny ornate pattern.

How Does Gray Terracotta Work?

  • A pickaxe is required - breaking without one drops nothing.
  • Smelt in a Furnace to create Gray Glazed Terracotta.
  • Does not burn, making it a safe building material near fire.
