What Is Terracotta in Minecraft?

Terracotta is a hardened clay block with a warm earthy orange colour. It is formed by smelting Clay blocks in a Furnace. It can be dyed into 16 coloured variants using a Crafting Table. Terracotta is harder than Clay and used widely as a building and decoration block. It generates naturally in Badlands biomes in large quantities.

How Does Terracotta Work?

  • Smelt Clay blocks in a Furnace to produce Terracotta.
  • Combine with a Dye in a Crafting Table to make Coloured Terracotta.
  • Smelt Coloured Terracotta again in a Furnace to make Glazed Terracotta.
  • Has a blast resistance similar to stone.
