What Is Hopper in Minecraft?

Hopper is a funnel-shaped block that automatically collects items that fall on top of it and transfers them into connected containers below. It can also pull items from containers directly above it. Hoppers are essential in automatic item-sorting and farming systems.

How Does Hopper Work?

  • Collects items dropped on top of it and pulls items from containers above.
  • Transfers items into the container it is pointing toward (placed while crouching).
  • Can be disabled with a redstone signal.
  • Processes one item every 8 game ticks (0.4 seconds) by default.
