What Is Scaffolding in Minecraft?

Scaffolding is a lightweight block used for temporary climbing and building. It can be placed without support from below and extends outward from an existing column. Players can climb up and down it like a ladder and it falls as a complete connected structure when the bottom block is broken.

How Does Scaffolding Work?

  • Place the first block on the ground, then place more on top or to the sides - they connect and stay unsupported up to 6 blocks out.
  • Crouch to fall through scaffolding downward; jump to climb up.
  • Breaking the bottom supporting block drops the entire connected scaffolding structure.
