What Is Stone in Minecraft?

Stone is one of the most common blocks in the game, making up the bulk of underground terrain. Mining it without Silk Touch drops Cobblestone. Smelting Cobblestone back in a furnace returns Stone. Stone is used to craft Stone tools, Stone Slabs and many other blocks.

How Does Stone Work?

  • Drops Cobblestone when mined without Silk Touch.
  • Use Silk Touch on a Pickaxe to collect Stone directly.
  • Smelt Cobblestone in a furnace to get Stone.
  • Smooth Stone is made by smelting Stone a second time.
