What Is Stonecutter in Minecraft?

Stonecutter is a crafting station that cuts stone, stone variants and other rocky blocks into slabs, stairs, walls and other shaped blocks more efficiently than a crafting table. Using a Stonecutter avoids the material waste that occurs when crafting stairs and walls on a crafting table.

How Does Stonecutter Work?

  • Right-click to open the Stonecutter interface.
  • Place a compatible stone block in the input slot to see all craftable shapes.
  • Each recipe uses only 1 block, making it more efficient than the crafting table.
  • Can cut stone, stone bricks, cobblestone, sandstone, quartz and many other stone types.
