What Is Torch in Minecraft?

Torch is one of the most common light sources in Minecraft. It emits a light level of 14, which is enough to prevent most hostile mobs from spawning nearby. It can be placed on floors, walls and some other surfaces. It is one of the first light sources players craft early in the game. Torches also slightly melt ice and snow near them.
