What Is Beacon in Minecraft?

A Beacon is a special glowing block that fires a bright beam of light straight up into the sky and gives nearby players powerful status effects. To activate it you need to build a pyramid of mineral blocks underneath it and make sure it has a clear view of the sky.

How Does Beacon Work?

• It shoots a beam into the sky - visible from far away.
• It gives status effects (buffs) to players within range.
• The bigger the pyramid underneath it, the more effects and the longer the range.
• You must feed it an iron ingot, gold ingot, emerald, diamond or netherite ingot to set which effect it gives.
• Effects last 9 seconds plus 2 seconds per pyramid level, reapplied every 4 seconds so they never run out while you stay in range.
