What Is Glass in Minecraft?

Glass is a transparent block smelted from Sand in a Furnace. It lets light through completely and allows players to see through it. Without Silk Touch, it shatters and drops nothing when broken.

How Does Glass Work?

  • Use Silk Touch to collect the block intact. Breaking without Silk Touch drops nothing.
  • Fully transparent - lets light through and allows visibility.
  • Mobs cannot see through Glass to target players.
  • Can be dyed into 16 colours of Stained Glass.
