What Is Candle in Minecraft?

A Candle is a small decorative candle that gives off a warm glow when lit. It is the base (undyed) version. You can place up to four candles in the same block space to increase the light level.

How Does Candle Work?

Place up to 4 candles in the same block to increase brightness. One candle gives light level 3, four give light level 12.
Light it with a Flint and Steel or a Fire Charge.
Put it out by right-clicking it or splashing water on it.
Placing a candle on an unlit cake creates a Candle Cake - right-click to light it.
Any tool or your hand breaks it, and it always drops itself.

How to Use Candle

Using Candle

Use it as a decorative light source in homes, dungeons and medieval builds.
Stack 4 in one spot for a brighter glow (up to light level 12).
Place on a Cake to make a Candle Cake - great for celebrations.
Dye it with any of the 16 dye colours by combining it with a dye in a crafting table.

Candle Tips

Candles do not melt or run out - they stay lit until you put them out.
They are not bright enough to prevent mob spawning on their own - combine with other light sources.
