What Is Copper Bulb in Minecraft?

Copper Bulb is an orange light-emitting block made from Copper Ingots that can be toggled on or off with a redstone signal. It was added in the 1.21 update and is found naturally in Trial Chambers. Like all copper blocks, it oxidises over time, and as it oxidises its light level drops.

How Does Copper Bulb Work?

  • Emits light when in its "on" state. Light level depends on oxidisation stage.
  • Toggle on or off by sending a redstone pulse (not a sustained signal).
  • Fresh Copper Bulb (on): light level 15. Oxidised Copper Bulb (on): light level 8.
  • Wax with Honeycomb to lock the oxidisation and preserve the light level.
