What Is Lectern in Minecraft?

Lectern is a wooden reading stand used to display a Book and Quill for multiple players to read. When a book is placed in a Lectern and a player turns a page, it emits a redstone signal proportional to the page number. It is also the job site block for the Librarian Villager.

How Does Lectern Work?

  • Place a Book and Quill in it for other players to read.
  • Turning pages emits a redstone signal - useful for redstone book-reader contraptions.
  • Right-click to place or take a book.
  • An axe breaks it fastest.
